Our forefathers knew about aliens all along.
It says so in the Declaration of Independence:
'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.'
I assume they meant aliens could not take away those rights.

Inalienable rights, however, are special rights awarded to those whom offered themselves as hosts. For said aliens.
