I am especially intrigued with the new character, Quinlan ‘The Born’ (Rupert Penry-Jones), a dhampir/daywalker. The episode showing his Roman history was interesting. I like learning of characters' backgrounds, it gives a better understanding of their personalities and motives.
It has been suggested The Master killed Quinlan's mother.
Abraham (David Bradley) is and has always been like a grumpy old billy goat gruff.
Fet (Kevin Durand), the ratcatcher, well, exterminator is my favourite.(now I'm picturing him running around saying 'exterminate...exterminate' :)
Ephraim (Corey Stoll) is a jerk and his son is annoying.
I swear they mentioned in the episode 'Intruders' the ancient book they are searching for, the Occido Lumen, is in the keeping of ‘Florescu’. If so, it makes sense since Professor Radu Florescu is the author of many books concerning Vlad Tepes (aka the Impaler), and claimed to be a decedent of Radu Tepes, Vlad’s brother.
I’ve read some of Florescu’s books, that is why I recognized the name, if it was indeed mentioned during the last episode.
I rewatched the episode and it did indeed sound at least similar to ‘Radu Florescu’, but it was kinda hard to tell, the Cardinal sort of mumbled it. Which was understandable since he was dying (before turning so he’d become part of the hive mind and the Master would then know where the book was, sneaky, huh?) at the time.
Since then I read that he actually said 'Rudyard Fonescu', pretty darn close!
Quinlan has not reappeared further and I really hope he will become a main character!
In my opinion he’s rather like Luke Skywalker…
The Master: ‘The villagers never told you what happened to your father?’
Quinlan: ‘They told me enough! They told me YOU killed him.’
The Master: ‘No, I am your father!’
Quinlan: ‘NOOOOOOoooooo!!!
(That really didn’t happen, I just made it up, but The Master IS his father and he knows it.)
And instead of a lightsaber, Quinlan carries what appears to be a katana with a femur hilt.
