*Puts thinking cap on, rests had on hand and starts tapping temple* Hmm, now let me see, why would scientists find it so important to find another Earth-like planet??? *Thinking* Could it be, they know sooner, perhaps more so than later, this one will be over-populated, have used up all it's natural resources, so badly polluted there's no reversal and is basically uninhabitable? Which begs the question, who do you suppose will remain on Earth, and who would be the ones chosen to live on a pristine 'new Earth'? Leastwise, after a few were sent as guinea pigs to see if they could survive life there and not be eaten by (or infected with a parasite, virus or bacteria, 'etc.') any indigenous species. (At least not by anything known to us, but i'm sure there'll be A LOT of 'etc.' we'd be naive and unaware of.)
We wouldn't worry much about what disease we would bring to said planet, because we'd be taking over, making it our own. Like we've done here over the years.
Anyway, here is the article that brought this to mind-
