Apparently, in the US, you might be pinched for not wearing green on St. Patrick’s day. (Perhaps it stems from so many Italians marrying Irish here?)
The wearing of green here (US), is said to bring luck.
In Ireland, though, wearing of green is said to bring bad luck.
Blue was the original colour for St. Patrick, eventually green was considered the more appropriate.

So, if you haven't anything green in your wardrobe (and want to avoid pinches) you can make a St. Patrick's Day Badge to wear instead. Here are directions for making one-
Select a coloured paper, perhaps a decorative one like those used in scrap-book making, or even stiff gift wrapping paper.
Choose one to be your background ‘fan’ base.

Fold in accordion pleats.
Then fold in half, and glue center together to make a ‘fan’ as shown below.
Make two ‘fans’ and join together with glue, like so-
Cut two circles of cardboard, one for the back, to which you glue a pin (it can be a safety pin, or a jewelry one you can purchase at a crafts store),
and one to the front to which you can either draw, or adhere a print from the net, of a St. Patrick’s Day related symbol (i.e. St. Patrick himself, a shamrock, leprechaun, rainbow with pot of gold, mug o’ Guinness, whatever strikes you :)
you can add embellishments like ribbon, sequins, glitter, etc.

You could actually make more than one ‘fan’ in different colour/pattern, and layer them if you’d like.
Hey, it’s art, anything goes!
