Anyway, according to certain religious beliefs, apparently before the "eating of the apple" and finding "knowledge" it was O.K. to be nude. Once Adam and Eve knew they were naked (it took great knowledge to recognize this I guess) they grabbed some leaves to "hide their nakedness." Now, leaves very quickly shrivel and dry out so something more substantial was needed...yes, the skin of other animals. That didn't work for warmer climates so I guess someone eventually figured out (since a whole lot of begetting went on after that first apple bite or whatever...and now that I think of it, if there were only Adam and Eve, they gave birth to Cain and Abel, Abel slew Cain which left only Adam, Eve and Cain...what happened there? Who became Caine's mate/wife? This must have happened down south, I guess. jk! :) how to weave fiber into cloth and make "clothes" and those who could not weave or sew had to trade for/or purchase "clothes" and it all went down hill from there. Or, on the other hand, after realizing we had this wonderful opposable thumb that could be used to make weapons and such, and had shed (the majority of) our body hair/fur, those who ventured to colder climates needed something to keep them even warmer..."Damn, it cold. What we do? We no have fur no more. Need fake fur. Kill animal for food, use skin for fake fur!!!" and so it went until religion was invented or found or whatever. What amazes me is those Ten Commandments given to Moses say nothing about "Thou shalt not be nude", but then again it does say "Thou shalt not kill" and apparently that has no effect, unless of course, perhaps in small letters which have eroded away from acid rain over the millenniums, it may have said "Thou shalt not kill- unless it is absolutely necessary."
Nudity and sex is not allowed on public television stations here in the USA. Only pay-for stations allow it (like through cable and satellite.) Public nudity is considered a no-no, even in advertising. I guess it is repression to some degree, but this makes it sell a lot better. Throw a lot of gratuitous nudity and/or sex in a hollywood film and it will sell (even if it has nothing whatsoever to do with the plot or storyline.) I think it is mainly religion that started it all. Sex (unless for reproduction)=Sin. (Hmmm, maybe because they are both three letter words beginning with the same letter? No, because the number Six has three letters and begins with the letter "S". Oh no! And 3 sixes in a row make...uh-oh, is there some connection there????? I guess you can find something symbolic in anything if you really want to....but I digress, as usual.
