Anyways, I only know one person that's been in the military, had seen war first hand and been deployed (or whatever it's called when facing the enemy), and though they've shared a memory with me (a very poignant one), and I am curious to know more, I wouldn't ask because I would not want to possibly stir up sad memories.
I brought this up because a family member was watching the HBO series 'The Pacific', which I did watch some of. It upset me and I had to leave the room. The stress a soldier is under, physically, mentally, emotionally. All the pain and death. I felt sadness and empathy. War is so horrendous. On everyone and everything.
We as humans pride ourselves on our 'evolution', our advancements, why then can we, instead of finding better ways to kill, find ways to end killing? Put an end to war. Learn to cooperate, live in peace where the only war is a video, board or card game. :(
