Maybe, since time travel to the future is purportedly viable, science needs to prioritize, so that we can send someone there and know positively if we should be worried or not.
Since the future is already there and we are just taking it day by day.
Time travel to the past (which is purportedly not feasible) would be nice, say, to verify historical events and such (ruling out all potential time-rending paradoxes) and it may also be necessary to physically return there in the future to either escape said future, or just to distribute the future human population more evenly. Or something.
Time travel would be a dream come true to the Steampunk community. They can actually live it for reals instead of pretending. Of course, a NDA would have to be signed (which is kinda like the prime directive) for any destination, and they would have to be sent back naked and without any devices/medicines/etc. Pre-travel medical examinations and cavity searches would be necessary.
