Was at a pond and caught 3 little fish with a net, brought them home and set up a small aquarium. I look at it this way, if they don't work out, I can release them back into said pond.
They are only about 1 and 1/2 inches in length and I'm not sure what species they are. I think they are either sunfish or maybe perch....or maybe baby snakeheads! Yep, they've invaded some of the lakes around here and fisherpeople are told by the fish and game authority to destroy any you catch. They've even been caught in nearby Crystal Lake! Now, you not only have to watch out for Jason Voorhees, but Snakehead Terrors, too! The adults can survive on land by breathing air (having suprabranchial organs) for up to 4 days, and can wriggle their way from one body of water to another!!!
Anyway, I'm pretty sure these little fish aren't snakeheads.
I have not named them. Yet. I want to see if they are ok with being domesticated (if fish ever are?), before I become to attached to them.
I'll post better photos later, but here they are. Dunno what gender, I'm not an ichthyologist.
