Baby Horseshoe Crabs! :)
They are considered living fossils, their origin dating back 450 million years ago. They are considered more closely related to arachnids. They are true 'blue bloods' as their blood contains hemocyanin as opposed to hemoglobin. Their blood is used in medicine, they are caught, bled, and returned to the wild (mostly unharmed, or so we think, like they are immune to trauma *sigh*), anyway, they are an important part of not only the ecosystem, but to humans (which are a part of the same system though we feel superior) as well. They swarm beaches here during spawning season. More photos Horseshoe Crabs in Medicine There's always plenty of it, so why do I seem to never have enough? Anyway, the end of a star becomes a huge diamond, cool, huh? Exactly, it cools then crystallizes, here, read- Earth-size 'Diamond' in Space And then there's that 'bright, mysterious geologic object where one never existed' on Saturn's moon, Titan.
It's difficult for me to fathom liquid methane and ethane 'rivers' and 'seas', though I've read where in liquid form methane is colourless, like water, and only would appear to have colour by reflection. So I imagine it would appear the same as our rivers/seas? Maybe. Wouldn't it be great to actually visit other planets/universes? Like safely, in a Tardis :) This global warming thing, as I mentioned many times before, can't they (those ones that know everything) simply build huge refrigeration units and just leave the door open? Like solar powered with back-up generators. Occam's Razor? Or find a way to use the earth's magnetic field to power them? Isn't it stronger at the poles? Hey, what do you want from me, how often must I repeat I'm not a scientist! And what of the Antarctic Ice? Doesn't it matter? (the above video was only up to 2012, maybe things have improved since? *nodding hopefully*) Anyway, while looking up informative videos for this topic on YouTube I came across this- Was he a prophet or what? I'd love to know what those children were thinking. Kinda looks like some demented Willy Wonka! Or Dracula! A beardless hipster maybe? Nice ukulele and falsetto, though. Wish I knew carpentry, I'd start building an ark. That is, if I knew what a cubit was *sigh* Looked that up, Wiki states a 'cubit is an ancient unit of length based on the length of the forearm from the elbow to the tip of the middle finger.'
So Noah had to measure using his arm? 300 cubits, his arm must have been REALLY tired. Guess accuracy was not of major importance since I assume most arm/finger lengths vary. A new exhibit at the Franklin Institute. Off topic, sort of, I wonder if most zombies preferred brains because of the whole primitive thing, eat an organ, gain it's power? Maybe some instinct drove them to it as a means to reestablish rational brain function? Maybe I'm over-thinking again. I still wonder about our brains. Scientists have done studies which prove the brain has already decided before we consciously do something. But if this is so, what does that say about someone, for instance, walking into the street while checking their phone as to what's being said on FB or Twitter and being hit by a car? Why does the brain not alert them to it in time, or just automatically react? I guess milliseconds or whatever isn't enough time, but still. Anyway, here, read this concerning free will(y), nah, jk, seriously FREE WILL. And then there's all that stuff it does (our brain) while we sleep. Rather suspicious. *whispers* symbiote? *nods with expectation of agreement* :)
But what of Saturday the 14th? Anyway, the traditional trip to the CRYSTAL LAKE DINER on Friday the 13th has been cancelled. On June 1st it was burned to the ground :( It was a really nice restaurant, good food, reasonably priced, but I'm surprised they never utilized the name, like having the servers wear masks and coveralls on Friday the 13th, or even have a Jason Voorhees Burger, made with real ground 'beef', or a rare steak served with a mini-machete. It's a sad, sad, Friday the 13th. Even the sky is dark and weeping. -before- -the inferno- -what was left-
Not talking about bees.....though I love bees, well, honey bees and bumble bees and even carpenter bees are cute, and bees are so beneficial for pollination, I mean, are't they literally sort of surrogate dad's? Plant sperm transporters or something? Anyway, without them (and there have been many colony die-offs which is of concern) we'd have to hire people dressed as bees, so as not to upset the plants, to hand pollinate (yeah, I know, the implication of that really does not sound right.) Honey bees (which are my favourites, they're cute and fuzzy though not petable and you shouldn't because if they lose their stinger they die- Wikipedia '...the stinger tearing loose from the bee's abdomen and leading to its death in minutes, this only happens if the skin of the victim is sufficiently thick, such as a mammal's.') are not even native to North America. They were introduced here from Europe in the 1600s. More from Wikipedia- 'Honey bees represent only a small fraction of the roughly 20,000 known species of bees. Some other types of related bees produce and store honey, but only members of the genus Apis are true honey bees.' But enough of bees because this is not what the post is about. Guess it's like a justification, even in war, if there is a majority in favour, whether something is right or wrong. Mob/Collective influence, which, depending on the mob/collective can produce positive and/or negative results? And it is easy to pass the blame/guilt on to someone else when in a group- 'well it was his/her idea'.
I suppose, if someone has the power to convince, coerce, bribe or threaten, you can build an army or an elite guard or any type of group. One alone, is not usually a threat. As with bullies. Most will back down on a one-on-one confrontation, that is why most of them either have a cohort or a posse. And bullies come in all shapes, sizes, genders, ages, races, etc. There are some bullies who are so subtly ‘persuasive’ others may not even realize they are being influenced or controlled. One’s who stir an otherwise good group of people into a rabble. It's been this way throughout history. Hitler, for example, or the Salem Witch Trials, and so forth (yeah, I'm watching 'Salem' on WGN America, which is why I brought that up.) Human Language *the shaking of an early hominid's hands, wildly in the air, along with excited high-pitched screams* "ooahoo...ooo..oo..ahoooahoooo....oooh...ohhh ohh....oh, yes, by jove, I think I've got it!"... ...which occurred just last week. (Yes, English was the first spoken language, and if you believe that, I have these magic beans here in my pocket that you might be interested in.....) 'I cannot doubt that language owes its origin to the imitation and modification, aided by signs and gestures, of various natural sounds, the voices of other animals, and man’s own instinctive cries.' — Charles Darwin, 1871. The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex This might explain why certain languages still use clicks and whistles along with words. However language came about, it has been a boon and a curse.
A lot of it is interpretation (because many words sound the same when spoken, though have different meanings, and even a simple 'yes' or 'no' can depend on the inflection and tone of the speaker as to it's implication, for when we speak, we do not use punctuation) but that goes for images/art, as well, which may have preceded language? Signing may have been a predecessor as well, but as language became more prevalent most gestures were lost? Except with, perhaps, within certain cultures, as well as in the non-verbal use of obscenities :) (Be prepared for more HAARPing on environmental issues as well. Whatdaya think? I’d let it go at just ridiculously expensive ice cubes?) And to think, there are those out there that don't even have potable drinking water! This is true obscenity. Pfft, you can use distilled water. which would have no taste since it has no impurities/contaminants/minerals. Excerpt from Gläce's website- 'Each piece of Gläce Ice's G-Cubed is individually carved and designed to offer a drink presentation that inspires, intrigues and most importantly complements the quality of the contents in your glass. G-Cubed is an eye-catching 'rock' providing heft and gravitas when served in an old-fashioned glass or elegantly juxtaposed atop a martini glass provides the inspirational imaging of cooling your martini with a perfect 'iceberg'. Each piece is individually wrapped & secured in a re-sealable pouch equipped with a one-way air check valve to ensure freshness between accesses.' Well, if they provide gravitas to your drink, hell yeah! (And a special thanks goes out to the one who introduced me to that word, 'gravitas' Fun word. French for gravy ;) Anyway, what of these 'pouches' they come in? Are they healthier than plastic ice cube trays? Meh, I don’t use ice cubes anyway, just chill in the fridge or drink at room temp, but I do, however, collect fun ice cube trays. Even if I don’t use them. Well, I have for themed parties with friends. Yeah, I have some in real life. Hey, I think I’ve REALLY found ‘the most interesting man in the world’ Dos Equis, and it's Paul Andrew Mayewski he drinks his beer with 100,000 year old ice!!! Wow, what a guy, huh? (K, so I've been told one does not drink beer with ice. I do not drink beer so wouldn't know and, actually, I don't know if Paul drinks beer, but if he does 'stay thirsty, my friend'....did that make any sense at all!?!) PS- that ice could have had mammoth pee in it! Yes, and now for some doom and gloom preachy stuff- I don’t subscribe to Showtime, but this should really be aired on public broadcasting networks, in my opinion.
