Anyway, here begins said rant-
Here in the states they want to do away with the confederate flag. If they do, what will Civil War reenactors do, I wonder? Or will they no longer be able to have those reenactments? Should they burn any of those flags (and anything associated with that part of history) that are in museums as well,or closet them away? And what of the Dukes of Hazard cars and that horn sound and stuff like that? In my opinion, getting rid of a flag is not going to stop racism, prejudice and bigotry.
It's like the swastika was originally a symbol of good but now it is only associated with Nazis.
Maybe we should just do away with any and all types of symbolism- crosses, stars, etc. In fact, let's do away with all colours, all music, films, games, books, art because who knows who might be offended by what. And for that matter, let’s get rid of history too while we're at it. We haven't learned from any of it, we still fight amongst ourselves as a species, so what's the point in keeping it archived? It might stir up trouble.
*sigh*
Maybe we need to teach more about tolerance and hopefully it will become ingrained in us and we will accept and embrace each and every one of us as the individuals that we are rather than by one's race, nationality, religion, culture, gender, size, shape, age, neighborhood, social status, etc.
End of rant....but I'm still annoyed!
