First up, something pretty omninteresting, and a bit sad as well-
They are gorgeous objects, aren't they? I've always been fascinated by early globes/maps/orrery and the like.
It is sad to see the creation of these dying out, being replaced by modern technology, similar to maps (what with GPS and all.) I wonder if compasses are becoming obsolete, too?
Geez, I hate to think what would happen if GPS ever went down? Guess we'd all be lost, and you'd either have to drive aimlessly in hopes of stumbling onto some familiarity or have to stop and ask directions!
Globes are still available, guess more so as a novelty decoration. Found this place that has a large selection 1 World Globe.
The George Glazer Gallery has some nice examples as well.
Greaves & Thomas (the also have paper globe kits!)
The Whipple Collection
3D Geography (with downloadable paper globes [and other shapes...but are they still called 'globes' then?] you can make!)
K, finished now with globes, but speaking of needlework, this is rather amazing-
Next on the agenda-
It's pika pika Pikachu! Gotta catch 'em all!
This next thing has AN ADULT THEME!
VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED....BUT IT'S STOP MOTION!!!!!
There is no more. Go away!
Just kidding, please come back again? Pweez?
