I am unsure how much a gazillion is exactly.
Anyway this is not precisely about tears alone.
We are just such a leaky species in general.
Some form of liquid always needing to be dispensed or disposed of.
All sorts of bodily fluids.
Some good. Others not so, even if beneficial.
Tears are beneficial. Not only are they meant to lubricate
that which views our outer world, but to rid them of foreign matter and irritants, and also as a means to release things pent-up inside ourselves emotionally.
Some good. Others not so, even if beneficial.
I cry, most everyone does at one time or another.
Sometimes I do so when I am happy, or moved by
something not necessarily bad, like, as an example, in the movie ‘V for Vendetta’ when all the people marching wore the mask, and when the overture was played.
Gives me goose-flesh just thinking about it.
Of course, I’ve cried when I am sad, too. It relieves some of the hurt and pain.
Guess all of it is actually a release of the internal. An emotional response.
Most liquids/semi-liquids are expelled for a purpose. Ridding the body of waste.
Sweat...I mean, perspiration, for example (better this then others
I could cite) is not necessarily a pleasant leakage, but serves
to relieve internal heat as well as getting rid of waste.
If we didn’t sweat, we would have to pant.
Leaking of blood is generally not a good thing (except for menstruation.)
Saliva not only keeps our mouths moist, but is the initial step in digestion, along with masticating< funny word, that :)
Same goes for our noses, which when leakage is profuse, it is to rid ourselves of germs, pollen and what not.
Then there is the reproductive fluids (and those that make it more comfortable), and lastly urine and sometimes poo (although poo is generally what is left AFTER water has been removed. But not always. Yeah, I know, ew, but it's physical science and anatomy stuff!).
Did I miss any?
And this doesn’t even cover all the necessary internal liquids (bile, hydrochloric acid, cerebral/spinal fluids and so forth) but they don’t usually leak outside the body.
At least they shouldn’t, and if expelled is usually done so, once again, to rid the body of toxins and/or germs etc.
Actually we are primarily made up of water/fluids.
Bags of it. Sorta like a specialty canteen.
Kinda.
The end.
