If there is some omnipresent whatever, apparently it has lost interest in us. Or died years ago. Or was a figment of our imaginations. I just don’t know. If there was/is/will be, he/she/it is probably pretty miffed at me.
The God of the Old Testament was at least a more realistic god. If he created us in his image, I can relate because he too had a selfish, intolerant, nasty temperament. He was not all love and understanding like his son, or himself incarnate, or his holy ghost, or whatever.
It all relates to the "why do bad things happen to good people". If he is so loving, caring, understanding then why do babies and children have birth defects, die of cancer and worse. Why does he allow children to be molested by his own servants?
Sometimes I think, maybe we are just some extraterrestrial’s failed science experiment?
"Let’s see Borgk, if we tweak the chromosomes, maybe even take away a pair from this Earth species (ape) maybe we can see where it goes from there?" "I don’t know, Blargk, do you think it is ethical?" "Who cares, Borgk, it will be interesting. Maybe someday we’ll be famous on 6^gk>. Blargk and Borgk, creators of a new species!" "I don’t know Blargk, what if something goes wrong. What if they someday destroy the universe or something?" "No problem Borgk, we’ll just program some of them to eventually destroy themselves and their own planet before that ever happens."
Just a thought.
