Many humans do have a tendency to shoot/autopsy first, ask questions later. Yeah, my imagination is running rampant right now. But who knows?
Yes, we may be the cleverest, most curious and creative apes on the planet, but would we want to know we are not alone, nor unique or superior in this universe?
It could change our entire outlook, maybe draw us, as Earthlings, closer together, or drive us further a part vying for (alien) allies?
