If everyone thought the same, liked the same things, it would really hamper creativity.
Of course, it will never happen. It is not in our nature. We are not hive-minded, even though we choose to create or belong to some.
Political hives, sports hives, club hives, etc. and when something or someone stirs up the hive, well, you know what happens. Irate beeings, stinging with words, fists or worse.
We are free-minded. Free to pick and choose, make decisions. Free will, freedom of speech, freedom to do as we please just so long as we realize it generally always comes with consequences.
It’s all the more noticeable on the internet. Arguing over issues, some major, some mundane. In fact, just the other day my friend and I were arguing over arguing :)
Argue, debate, it’s all the same, just one is cloaked in civility. It’s when things escalate out of control. Become verbal fist fights. People leave or are expelled/banned. A scapegoat is required. A sacrifice made, whether it be the instigator or not. Some type of appeasements, placation, concessions are granted to pacify the remains. Situation rectified.<(that word always amuses me, i associate it with 'rectum'....rectumfied *hehe* :)
Absolution for the winners.
*sigh* Guess it’s simply the nature of the beast.....
